Tiesman Cup

A golf tournament based in New York City, the Tiesman Cup, brings together golf aficionados (or my finance guy friends).

The name Tiesman is a Spanish slang that translates to men being “tight-fisted.” (Hence, the ripped dollar bill is the main focus in the logo).

  • Visual Identity, Merch Design

  • Create a sleek, sporty, and modern logo and create polo shirt design in white and navy blue.

  • My friends wanted a logo that blended class with modernity and irony, encapsulating the essence of their team's name and identity. They specifically highlighted the symbolism of a ripped dollar as a representation of their identity, presenting me with the challenge of capturing this distinctive concept.

Drawing inspiration from my mood board and vintage references of torn dollars, I engaged in multiple sketching sessions. The transition to Adobe Illustrator allowed me to digitize, simplify, and integrate the intricate details of the raw sketches.

Considering the logo's intended application on the team's polos, I prioritized ease of transferability and a monochromatic design. To ensure the final look aligned seamlessly with the polo shirt, I sketched the envisioned appearance and collaborated with various suppliers to guarantee optimal quality.
